Planning
Members of Trail Mix have been instrumental in planning
a viable trail system for Juneau.
A Trails Working Group collects information from previous
seasons regarding commercial use of trails and facilitates
discussions among public agency partners and guiding companies
to plan for the commercial use of specific trails.
Trail Mix also facilitates development of a Juneau Trails
Plan, which is used by agencies to help set priorities
for trail maintenance and development projects. A committee
undertakes periodic revisions of the Plan by gathering
information from the public and agency partners, preparing
a draft document, and scheduling public meetings to solicit comments.
In recent years, Trail Mix has facilitated the formation
of working groups, with representatives from various user
groups, to develop plans for:
- Dredge Lakes area
- ORV trails in Lemon Creek
- Antiyiek Park frisbee golf
course near Dimond Park
- Mendenhall Valley’s “Under
Thunder” trail
- Treadwell Ditch historic trail
- Lake Creek snowmobile
trail
- Blueberry Hill snowmobile access
- Seatrails throughout
Southeast Alaska
