Each year, officials from the US Forest Service – Tongass
National Forest (FS), Alaska State Parks & Recreation
(AKSPR), and City & Borough of Juneau (CBJ) determine
funding priorities for trail projects on public lands under
their jurisdiction. A Trails
Plan, which
is developed through a public process involving community
input and agency expertise, helps guide their decision-making.
The agencies provide all materials to complete projects
and work with the Trail Mix Executive Director to be sure that trail crews under Trail Mix
supervision are trained and able to carry out trail building
and improvement according to agency specifications.
During the 2004 field season, the agencies set the following
priorities:
